SAVOUR EVERY BITE

PSALM 119:97-104

“You eat too fast!” my friend often tells me. “Relax and enjoy your meal.” I usually finish before he does since he takes his time to savour each bite.

I wonder how many of us hurry through God’s Word without truly enjoying it. It was sweet to the psalmist’s taste, sweeter than honey to his mouth (Ps. 119:103).

What are the advantages of feeding on Scripture’s delicious taste? A daily meal of God’s Word keeps anxiety, pride, fear, and temptation from invading our undernourished hearts and prepares us for a triumphant journey. The Bible provides us with knowledge and wisdom. It also aids in the restraint of our feet from evil. God’s Word, when digested, nourishes our thoughts, emotions, and will in the same way as our digestive system helps to nourish our bodies.

It is indeed important to read the Bible at a time and at a place where we may truly commune with God, rather than grabbing it on the run just before dashing out the door.

Take time to appreciate the depths of God’s Word.

🙏🏼 Thank You, Father, for the gift of Your Word. Help us to take time to savour the richness it contains.
