PLUGGED INTO THE WRONG SOURCE

ISAIAH 40:27-31

The use of electronic devices requires action on our part, we must connect them to the power source to become functional or be recharged. If we fail to do this, we will not reap the fruits of electricity.

I was recently working on my computer at home when I suddenly noticed that my laptop battery was low and the computer was about to shut down. However, the computer was plugged in, so it did not need to use the battery. When I traced the cable from the laptop to the extension cable, I finally found that the extension cable was connected to itself and not to the socket! I realised that this is what happens most of the time in our lives – we are connected to the wrong source and instead of receiving power, we drain it.

In Isaiah 40:27-31, the prophet identified the true and inexhaustible source from which we must draw our strength – the everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth (verse 28). Then he addressed those whose strength was failing, encouraging them to wait on the Lord for their strength to be renewed (verses 29-31).

Jesus spoke of us as branches that abide in Him as the vine (John 15:45). This matches the powerful conclusion of Isaiah, which promises that if we are connected to God, we will run or walk and never get tired (Isaiah 40:31).

When we are tired and stressed, we must connect to the true Source of strength and life.

🙏🏼 Lord, help us to be plugged into You and remain connected to You for renewed strength.
