LIVING AN “EASY” LIFE

1 THESSALONIANS 3

“That no man should be moved by these afflictions: for yourselves know that we are appointed thereunto.” (1 Thessalonians 3:3)

Some parents go to great lengths to keep their children happy at all times. Sometimes they fail. Parents who refuse to let their children experience failure or sadness give them a poor view of the world and fail to prepare them for the harsh reality of adulthood.

Some Christians hope that the Lord is the kind of father who will protect them from all pain and disappointment. But He is not that kind of father because He lovingly lets His children suffer.

When we start out with the false belief that it is an easy life that makes us really happy, we get tired of living our false beliefs. But when we face the truth that life is difficult, we strengthen ourselves for the times when the going gets tough.

God’s purpose is to make us holy, not just happy, and when we are holy we are more likely to be happy and contented.
