FIND THE BIBLE

2 KINGS 22:8-13

One a certain Sunday, a pastor, invited three children to locate several scrolls with Bible verses written on them that he had hidden within the Church. He told them that once they found them and read the words aloud, he would give them a prize. You should have seen those youngsters! They ran, moved chairs, and looked under plants, in wallets and bags (with permission). Their search for the scrolls were intense, but exciting.

In 2 Kings, King Josiah and the people of Judah rediscovered the joy and importance of the Word of God. During the repairing of the temple, the high priest, Hilkiah found the Book of the Law. It must have been lost or hidden during the reign of Manasseh. When the scroll was read to King Josiah, he listened and responded to it. He sought further understanding of it, and he led the people to renew their commitment to its importance in their lives (2 Kings 23:1-4).

Many nowadays have unprecedented access to God’s Word. Let us renew our commitment to “find” it each day and by our lives display its prominence.

To know Christ, the Living Word, is to love the Bible, the written Word.

🙏 O Lord, Your Word, the Bible is divine, supreme, eternal, holy, true; sufficient for all men and time. Help us to find it daily.
