“GIVE THEM SOMETHING…”

MARK 6:30-44

“Give ye them to eat” (Mark 6:37). This was Jesus’ instruction to His disciples. An enormous crowd had gathered to hear Him. As it started getting late, the disciples got nervous and suggested that He send them away so they can go and look for something to eat. It was clear that they did not have any plan or budget for the crowd. Jesus rather asked them to give the people something to eat.

Why will Jesus’ ask them to feed the people? John 6:6 tells us that He was testing them. Did He want to see if they would trust Him for a miracle? Perhaps, but it seems more likely He wanted His disciples to be involved in caring for the crowd.

After blessing what they brought to Him – five loaves of bread and two fish, five thousand people were miraculously fed.

Sometime Jesus does the same thing with us too. A need presents itself in the lives of those around us, and we bring it to Him in prayer. “You do something,” Jesus often says. “But, Lord,” we object, “we do not have enough time or money or energy.” Well we are wrong. When Jesus asks us to get involved, He already knows how He will accomplish His work through us.

What we need is the willingness and the Lord will provide the power. God only wants us to be His instruments.

Whenever God ask us to do it, He has already planned the resources we need to accomplish the task.

🙏 God use us as Your instruments to reach out to mankind. May we trust You to supply all we need through Jesus Christ. Amen.
