A LIFE OF SUFFERING AND GRATITUDE

JOB 1:21

Life is a rollercoaster of spiritual, physical and emotional turmoil.

Job’s story is an honest presentation of life in a broken world.

Job lost all his wealth in the twinkle of an eye. Despite the heartbreaking news, he at first looked to God in hope and praised Him for being the source of everything. He acknowledged God’s sovereign hand even in times of calamity (Job 1:21). He accepted that both good and bad are allowed by God.

As we pass through challenges, we may find ourselves wavering between despair and hope, doubt and faith. Our faith may be shaky at times, but we can trust God to always be faithful. He is always in control, and He cares for us.

Sometimes, the loudest praise comes from those who pass through hardships, adverse environments, and feelings that are hurt and wounded; such praise is also very pleasing to God, as He understands very well from whom and where it comes.
