ZEPHANIAH 3:13
The story was told in 2005 of an Ethiopian girl who was abducted and was found by the police after seven days. She was surrounded by three black-maned lions that were guarding her. Seven men had kidnapped the twelve-year-old girl with the intent of forcing her into marriage. They carried her into the woods and continued beating her. Miraculously, however, a small pride of lions heard the girl’s cries, came running and chased off the attackers. They then stood guard until she was found and then they moved back into the forest.
There are days when violence and evil, like that inflicted on this young girl, overwhelm us, leaving us hopeless and terrified. In ancient times, the people of God experienced such. They were attacked by ferocious armies and had no chance of winning the battle or escaping from their attackers. However, God always defended His people.
Whatever troubles come our way, whatever evils we face – Jesus, the Lion of the tribe of Judah is with us (Revelation 5:5). Our God assures us that He is by our side.
