ECCLESIASTES 4:6
In the ancient tale – The Boy and The Nuts, a boy put his hand into a jar of nuts and took a great fistful. But his hand was so full that it got stuck in the jar. Unwilling to lose even a little of his bounty, the boy began to weep. Eventually, he is counseled to let go of some of the nuts so the jar will let go of his hand. Greed can be a hard boss.
Greed is not the same as aspiration.
Greed is the inordinate, insatiable desire to accumulate money, power, and security to such a degree that it supersedes moral integrity, and even spiritual integrity.
May God guard us against greed by cultivating in us generosity, devotion to God, involvement in our local churches, and a commitment to be honest about the proportion of our own desires.
Unless we drop some of the nuts back into the jar, our hands may remain trapped!
