TEARS IN THE BOTTLE

PSALM 56: 8-11

We often feel that in the darkest of our nights God is nowhere to be found. When the storms are strong. When all we know is loneliness. Does God really see our pains and our tears?

Psalm 56 says that every tear David has cried, God has placed in a bottle. It is an intimate imagery that God is near in our hurt. The God of the universe, who hears thousands of prayers at any given time, is aware of every tear that leaves your eyes.

Often, obedience and following Jesus create suffering in our lives. The idea behind the keeping of “tears in a bottle” is remembrance. The fact that God remembers us and our sufferings should be very comforting.
