HEBREWS 11:1-2
By definition, faith may imply moving into the discomfort of the unknown. Can we imagine being one of the disciples following Jesus as He associated with the hated tax collectors, then prostitutes and even the demon possessed? Would we be very comfortable being seen with such a man whom the Scribes and Pharisees did not fully agree with?
Faith means deleting a comfortable present to the recycle bin to make space to download an uncomfortable future. In following Jesus we suffer the heartbreak of ministering to people who will disappoint us, the mocking of those who oppose us, and the attacks of those who wants to derail us. It is all part of a pruning process of God that leads us to bear fruits here on earth. If Christian ministry is comfortable, as so many try to make it today – then it is not the kind of ministry we read about anywhere in the Bible.
