EXODUS 17:8–13; HEBREWS 12:1
Jack’s strength failed him at mile twenty-five out of twenty-six.
Jack, a first-time marathon runner, felt exhausted and sat down. After resigning to quit, two middle-aged women approached him. Despite being strangers, they asked if he wanted to run with them. Jack found his strength restored, and accompanied by the two women, he finished the race. The encounter marked a significant moment in his life.
The women who encouraged Jack are like Aaron and Hur, who supported Moses, the leader of the Israelites, during a crucial battle. When Moses’s strength failed, Aaron and Hur stood by his side, holding up his arms until sunset.
Following God is not a solo venture. He did not create us to compete in life’s races by ourselves. Our companions can support us in overcoming adversity as we carry out the tasks that God has given us.
🙏God, I am grateful for the connections that inspire me to keep running after You. Please also help me to be a pillar of support for others.
