NO HIDING PLACE FROM CONSEQUENCES

1 KINGS 2:28–35

A man may run from a courtroom, but he cannot run from the consequences of his actions or the judgement that will be pronounced. Joab fled to the altar, hoping it would save him, but his past eventually caught up with him.

In 1 Kings 2:28–35, Solomon ordered Joab’s execution because of his previous acts of violence, including the killing of Abner and Amasa. Joab’s physical refuge at the altar could not erase his guilt. God’s mercy does not make us immune to the consequences of deliberate wrongdoing.

Let us not wait for trouble before calling on God. True refuge is found in a life surrendered to Him and guided by His Word. Repentance should precede crisis, not merely accompany it.

🙏 May the Lord guide your steps, keep you from evil, and establish you in righteousness. Amen.
