PRAYING BEYOND OURSELVES

1 THESSALONIANS 1:1–5

George Müller (1805–1898) is famously known for his radical prayer life and selfless service to others. His life reminds us that living is not only about ourselves but also about others and God’s work in them.

In 1 Thessalonians 1:1–5, Paul thanks God for the believers’ faith, love and hope. Rather than focusing on material needs, he prays for their spiritual growth and celebrates God’s transforming work among them.

Our prayers should reflect Paul’s example. While it is right to present our needs to God, we should also regularly thank Him and intercede for others’ spiritual maturity. Such prayers strengthen the Church and honour Christ.

🙏 May the Lord make you faithful in prayer, blessing others through your intercession. Amen.
