PSALM 55:4–19
Have you ever wanted to escape life’s pain—like a child hiding under a blanket during a storm, hoping it would all go away? David felt like that. Overwhelmed by fear and sorrow, he wished that he had the wings of a dove, to fly away and be at rest (v. 6).
Many have shared that longing. During the Irish potato famine (1845–1852), over a million people fled across the Atlantic, leaving behind heartbreak in search of hope. David, too, yearned to escape—but instead, he turned to God as we see in verse 16.
Whatever your burden, God understands. One day, He will wipe away every tear (Revelation 21:4). Until then, rest in His care.
🙏 May the Lord help you to turn to Him when life feels too heavy, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
