MATTHEW 4:1–11
A friend once saved for months to buy the latest smartphone. When he finally got it, he was overjoyed—showing it off at every opportunity. But within weeks, the thrill wore off. A newer model was announced, and suddenly his joy felt outdated.
That is the way of material things—they promise much but never fully satisfy. The world tells us we need more to be happy, yet the happiness always fades.
In the wilderness, after forty days without food, Jesus was tempted to turn stones into bread. But He replied, “Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.” (Matthew 4:4)
We were made for God—and only He truly satisfies.
🙏 May the Lord Jesus help you seek joy in Him, not in things. Amen.
