SERVING IN THE SHADOWS

ACTS 1:15–26

A young man posted on his Facebook page that he had been chosen for a leadership role. Others praised him, but my heart sank—it was the role I had hoped for. I had been overlooked, and I didn’t understand why.

Poor Joseph. He too was passed over. The disciples asked God to show who should replace Judas (Acts 1:24). The lot fell to Matthias, not Joseph (v. 26).

Did Joseph sulk? Did he withdraw like a wounded lion? Or did he trust God and serve quietly?

We are not told. But what matters is our response when we are not chosen. May we remember that God’s kingdom is greater than our ambitions—and may we serve faithfully, even in the background.

As long as we can serve in God’s kingdom, it does not matter how or where.

🙏 May the Lord Jesus help you to serve with joy, whether you are in the spotlight or behind the scenes. Amen
