WHEN WILLPOWER IS NOT ENOUGH

ROMANS 7:14–25

A friend texted me late one night: “Why do I keep messing up? I want to do the right thing, but I keep failing. I am so tired of pretending.”

I replied to him, “You are not alone. Even Paul, one of the greatest apostles, felt that way.”

In Romans 7:15, Paul admits he cannot live up to what he knows is right. Sound familiar? We try harder and promise more but still fail.

Here is the truth: willpower cannot fix what only Jesus can heal.

We often think change is about trying harder, but willpower alone cannot fix a heart issue. That is why Paul does not stop at his struggle—he thanked God, who delivers him through Jesus Christ (v. 25).

God is not waiting for us to win the battle. He knows we cannot. That is why He sent Jesus—to win it for us.

The answer is not more effort. It is surrender.

🙏 May you win every battle and struggle as you surrender them to Jesus Christ today. Amen.
