REVELATION 21:1–7
James is fascinated by the scrapyard, as he enjoys working on cars. These lonely places are filled with discarded hulks, some wrecked, worn out, and outlived. Each car has a story, a portal to the past. Reviving an ancient component is a minor triumph over ageing and deterioration.
This makes me think of Jesus’ words towards the end of the Bible: “I make all things new” (Revelation 21:5). The rebirth of creation by God, including believers, is the subject of this statement. Everybody who has accepted Jesus is already a “new creation” in Him (2 Corinthians 5:17).
Eventually, we will experience His promise of endless days spent with Him (John 14:3). Age and illness will no longer be a factor, and we will carry on with our eternal life’s journey. What tales we shall all have to share—tales of the enduring devotion and redeeming love of our Saviour.
🙏 May God’s promise of newness come to pass in your life now and in eternity. Amen.
