EXODUS 23:10–13
On a Sunday, I stood by a stream, enjoying its beauty and listening to birds chirping. I was able to enjoy the area’s beauty because I felt at ease and thankful for the intervention of the Lord in allowing his people to rest.
The Lord established a Sabbath for His people to promote their growth. He instructed them to sow their fields for six years and rest on the seventh, working six days and resting on the seventh. This lifestyle set the Israelites apart from other nations.
Our day of rest can be approached with expectancy and creativity, allowing us to worship and engage in activities that nourish our souls, varying according to our preferences, such as playing games, gardening, sharing meals with family, or taking an afternoon nap.
In our faith and service, rest is as important as work.
🙏Thank you, LORD, that you have created us both to work and to rest.
