SWEET AROMA

2 CORINTHIANS 2:14–16

A charming tale about visiting a little village in Dover, England, is recounted by author Rita Snowden. One afternoon, while sipping a cup of tea outside a café, she noticed a lovely aroma. When Rita inquired about its source, a waiter informed her that it was the people she could see walking by. A local perfume factory employed the majority of the populace. They carried the scent from their garments into the street as they headed home.

Rita Snowden discovered a scent and sought its source, demonstrating that, as followers of Jesus, we too become permeated with His fragrance, bringing His aroma to the streets.

As the apostle Paul says, we spread the aroma of Christ’s fragrance (2 Corinthians 2:15). We spread it through words and actions of Christlike sacrifice. While not everyone will appreciate our divine fragrance, it will bring life to many.

🎶Let the beauty of Jesus be seen in me,

All his wonderful passion and purity,

O thou Spirit divine, all my nature refine,

Till the beauty of Jesus be seen in me.
