EXODUS 3:1-6,10-14
An ancient Native American tale describes a young boy who was sent into the woods by himself at night in order to prove his courage. Trees groaned and squeaked, an owl cried out, and the coyote howled as the sky grew dark. The boy stayed in the woods all night despite his fear because that was the requirement of the courage test. When morning finally arrived, he noticed a solitary figure close by. He recognised the man who had been keeping an eye on him all night: his grandfather.
The burning bush that Moses saw in the wilderness did not burn up. Then God started speaking to him from the bush, giving him the order to return to Egypt and release the Israelites from dreadful servitude. Although Moses objected, God assured him that He would be by his side.
God has vowed to never leave those who put their faith in Him. The unseen God is prepared to respond to our needs appropriately, no matter how dark the night.
