LUKE 15:11-24
In anticipation of his son’s return, a father stretched his neck every day to peer in the direction of the far-off road. He went to bed disappointed each night. But then one day, a speck appeared. Against the blood-red sky, a lonesome shadow loomed. The father questioned if that might be his son. Then he saw the obvious stride. Undoubtedly, that is my son!
It is amazing that the family patriarch did something in Luke 15:20 that was viewed as improper in Middle Eastern culture—he ran to greet his son. The father’s excitement upon his son’s return was unrestrained.
This parable serves as a reminder that God accepts us, not because of anything we have done but because of His grace. It gives us reassurance that we will never fall so low that God’s grace will be unable to save us. Our heavenly Father is standing by, ready to embrace us.
🙏🏻Father, we are so grateful for all Your Son did for us at the cross. Thank You for running to us.
