GIVING EVERYTHING

ROMANS 12:1-8

John F. Kennedy challenged Americans during his inaugural speech as US President, saying, “Ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country.” It was a fresh appeal for people to give their lives in sacrificial service to the country.

An army of volunteers sprung up in response to that call, and over the years they have carried out an incalculable amount of humanitarian work all around the world.

In the first lines of Romans 12, the apostle Paul made a similar plea to Christians centuries before. Here, he exhorts us to offer our bodies to God as “living sacrifices” in honour of the One who gave His life as atonement for our sins.

The best part is that we can serve right where we are.

Do not always ask Jesus what He can do for you; ask Him what you can do for Him.

🙏🏻 Jesus, show me this day the many ways my life can be surrendered to You, and give me the strength to begin to act.
