DEUTERONOMY 1:30-31
Israel stood poised on the edge of the promised land. They were about to claim the inheritance God had promised to their fathers. But first, Moses addressed the people one last time. As he spoke, he reminded them that through their long journey in the wilderness God had carried them as a father carries his son.
For forty years, He ushered the Israelites through unfamiliar desert lands, revealing Himself strong on their behalf amid hunger, dehydration, and the many quarrels threatening to divide them. He steered his people’s course and, in due time, brought them to the Promised Land.
I wonder if Israel felt carried in the wilderness because of the challenges they had to face and how they sometimes reacted.
God also carries us. Like Israel, we may not always recognize that God is carrying us through the midst of our difficulties and struggles. He sustains us with His power. He provides for us with His hand. At every moment, in every situation, His presence is there – even when we do not see it.
