WE ARE WATCHING YOU

PROVERBS 22:6

Our actions teach. Our words often impart only information. Parents may tell their children to be respectful and speak the truth. However, if these same parents scream at each other and tell lies, they are teaching that this is how their children should grow up to behave. Copying parents is “one of the most powerful ways that children learn,” says Dr. Sal Severe.

One big mistake parents make is to think a strong religious foundation will direct the lives of their children aright – so they bring them to church and see how much they can be involved in the church’s activities. For many people religion is the key to moral education.

In addition to whatever structure we may provide through the church, which is okay and commendable, I believe we can teach better through example.

Whether we choose to hear or not the children are saying “daddy, mummy, we are watching you!”
