Jesus put His foot down and staked his claim. The temple had a greater purpose and the moneychangers were destroying that purpose, so they had to go!
There may be areas in our lives, as was in the temple, that God also wants to get the troublemakers out. It may be our prayer lives, study of His Word, commitment to His service, relationships, etc. Instead of wasting time wallowing in excuses, we need to stake our claim and resolve to move forward. We need to see troublemaking areas and purposely set goals that will lead us to the finish line instead of wallowing in self-pity and heading back. We need to take back that area that once was lost.
