BUILDING IN SILENCE

1 KINGS 6:7

When the Temple was being built, it was done in silence (no noise as much as possible). No hammer fell, no ponderous axes rung, everywhere was serene. But finally, the work was completed.

Maybe it was for convenience of transport and to save time that the stones were dressed in the quarries, but more probably the silence was due to an instinct of reverence for God and His House (The Temple).

This is an encouragement to those whose work is inconspicuous. God is seeing, even though they are not ‘making any noise.’

Also a lesson not to mistake noise and notoriety for spiritual progress. Because most times the empty vessels make the loudest noise.

Can we learn to build in silence?
