THE PRAYER CLOSET

MATTHEW 6:6.

What happened to the prayer closet? If we have never heard of one, it is simply a private place to spend time with the Lord. It can be a private room, or even a chair in the corner of our bedroom.

The Lord Jesus maintained a prayer closet – Mark 1:35.

He saw the prayer closet as so important that He tells us to enter into our closet, shut the door, pray to our Father which is in secret; and our Father who sees in secret shall reward us openly – Matthew 6:6.

Now, many of us have made our prayer closet a supply closet. We only go in there for things. We do not go in there for a relationship with God. Instead of seeking Him, we seek things! We have built shelves in our prayer closets, making it difficult to get inside to meet with our Father. So we simply reach in and pull out what we want. It is time that we take the shelves out of our supply closets and make them our prayer closets again.

We should make our prayer closets places where we go in, put our body down and fellowship in the Spirit with the Lord. In the prayer closet, we should give ourselves to Him and learn to enjoy the presence of the Lord. This is what He wants.
