HURT

EPHESIANS 4:26-27.

Once we choose to love someone, we are also giving them the power to hurt us. Such vulnerability is scary. To think we can be wounded by someone we care about is sometimes a reality we want to run from.

We want to avoid such hurts. The problem is, we cannot really do that. And no one who loves will ever be safe from harm. Even Christ who loved like no one else faced unimaginable suffering.

So, we have to choose. The only way to be protected from hurt is to love no one. And that is not a choice that guarantees 100% protection from hurt. Because hurt will always be part of living in a fallen world.
