BUILDING BRIDGES

JOHN 4:7–14, 39–42

The neighbourhood has high concrete walls with electric barbed wires to ward off robbers. However, frequent power outages render the front gate bells useless, preventing visitors from entering during harsh weather conditions. The fence walls serve a purpose but can also become walls of discrimination, even when the visitors are not intruders.

Jesus encountered a Samaritan woman who faced discrimination. She initially questioned why Jesus asked her for a drink, but as she opened up to him, a life-changing experience occurred. Jesus became the bridge that broke the wall of hostility and favouritism, positively affecting her and her neighbours.

We must recognise the temptation to discriminate in our own lives because it exists. We can reach out to everyone, regardless of their ethnicity, social standing, or reputation, as Jesus demonstrated. He arrived to construct bridges.

🙏 May the Lord Jesus help you to see people through His eyes and make you a bridge builder. Amen.
